Artificial Reasoning for Exploration and Space (ARES)
|
|
Provide embedded intelligence software for remote exploration platforms such as spacecraft, ground robots, UAVs, and ocean explorers.
- Use on-board artificial reasoning techniques to:
- Characterize the environment around the vehicle.
- Reduce resource use by “smartly” using resource-intensive instruments.
- Reduce communications demands between an exploration vehicle and base stations by only sending “important” information.
- Adapt reasoning to platform conditions
- example tumbling satellite or instrument issues
- Supplement on-board systems with ground support:
- Pre-mission training
- In-mission joint reasoning
- Post-mission analysis
